My name is Josh Powell. I was born on a farm in Cardwell, Montana and growing up in rural Montana has shaped who I am today. I was raised by amazing parents who taught me the value of a strong work ethic and an even stronger reliance in Jesus Christ my savior. I’m not a politician. I’m a husband, a father, a Montana native and a proud American citizen. Most importantly, I am a neighbor that would like the opportunity to serve the people of Manhattan on the Town Council.

My wife, Mallory, was born and raised here in Manhattan and now this small-town has been home for my family and I for the past 12 years. I believe in order to maintain our small-town values and preserve a legacy for our children, electing men and women who honor God is vital. I have been a concerned bystander as I see once honored values eroding in our nation. I am also aware of the challenges our town will face in the future as its population grows. This is what has motivated me to run for Town Council. I believe I can be a positive influence in our town as I am invested in raising my family here.

I am a parts coordinator/ purchaser for TowHaul in Belgrade. The experience and skills I have acquired in the business arena I believe can be beneficial in serving on the Town Council. A strong point is while working with many different personalities and opinions, I am able to listen and make knowledgeable well-thought-out decisions. Serving as a councilman requires the importance of good stewardship of our town’s resources and effective management of our town’s assets. I want to support policies that permit rational and responsible development, but also retain what makes our town special.

I have put my hat in the ring for Manhattan Town Council to ensure all residents have a greater voice in town matters and that their concerns are heard and respected. I also want to assist the Council to make the best decisions that affect our residents and local businesses.

Manhattan is a wonderful place to call home and raise a family. Together we can make sure that it continues to be that great place.

“Without God, there is no virtue, because there’s no prompting of the conscience. Without God, we’re mired in the material, that flat world that tells us only what the senses perceive. Without God, there is a coarsening of the society. And without God, democracy will not and cannot long endure. If we ever forget that we’re one nation under God, than we will be a nation gone under.”  –Ronald Reagan

Please consider me for Manhattan Town Council.

Respectfully,

Josh Powell
